Traxxas Athlete Courtney Force Makes History in Sonoma

Traxxas, the Fastest Name in Radio Control, congratulates Courtney Force, the fastest Funny Car driver in NHRA history and driver of the Traxxas Funny Car, on claiming the coveted Wally on Sunday at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals. The win on Sunday marked Force’s fifth career win and made her the winningest female driver in Funny Car history. Courtney’s first win of the season at Topeka, KS qualified her for the Traxxas Nitro Shootout and with the victory in Sonoma, she is now 4th in points.Traxxas Athlete Courtney Force Makes History in Sonoma

Sunday’s elimination rounds opened with Force in the No. 1 qualifying position. Both Courtney and John Force advanced to the final round, and set the stage for a Force family final. Courtney had lane choice over her father as they went to the line, a decision that can make or break a run. Courtney did not succumb to the additional emotional pressure of racing her legendary father, and blasted solidly off the line with the hole shot. John however hooked up strong, raced past Courtney, and led to the 660-foot mark. Courtney powered her way back around to take the win when John’s tires began to haze. Courtney piloted the Traxxas Funny Car to an elapsed time of 4.253 seconds with a speed of 296.24 mph, crossing the line about 57 feet in front of her father.

“It was so exciting reaching my 5th win in Sonoma, CA, while becoming the winningest female in Funny Car, and I couldn’t have done it without my team and my sponsor, Traxxas,” said Courtney. “Thank you Traxxas for all of your continued support. We couldn’t have been in the winner’s circle without them!”Traxxas Athlete Courtney Force Makes History in Sonoma

Between the excitement of the qualifying and elimination rounds, race fans had the opportunity to visit the Traxxas display. Fans were able to see the scaled-down version of the winning Traxxas Funny Car at the product display, enter a giveaway, watch high flying demonstrations of the Slash 4X4 and E-Revo Brushless Edition, and try their hands at driving a Traxxas vehicle at the Try-Me Track.

Traxxas athlete, Courtney Force, also stopped by the Traxxas display to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

Look for the whole Traxxas team this weekend in Seattle as the NHRA Western Swing wraps up with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries.
