Roush Yates Engines and Ford Racing Win 4 in a Row

Roush YatesMooresville, NC (July 14, 2014) Roush Yates Engines and Ford Racing captured their eighth NASCAR Sprint Cup win of the season on Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Brad Keselowski and Team Penske swept the weekend; leading both Sprint Cup practices, winning the pole for the NASCAR Nationwide race, and taking the checkered flag in the STA-Green 200 and the Camping World RV Sales 301.

Keselowski dominated the field on Saturday and Sunday, leading over half the laps in the Nationwide race and 138 of 305 laps in the Sprint Cup race. His Roush Yates power was evident when crew chief Paul Wolfe opted to give up the lead and take four tires when the race’s second caution came on lap 113. Keselowski only needed 13 laps to drive his Ford Fusion from 10th place to third and 10 more laps to pass the leader.

“This Ford Fusion was hauling today,” said Keselowski, who has 10 top-10 finishes in 19 races this season. “It’s a privilege to have a car like this; we’re just clicking. I think this is definitely good for when we come back here in September. We have to keep working and plugging away. I’m sure a lot of guys will be stronger and we will be too.”

Sunday’s win marks the fourth straight for Ford and Roush Yates Engines in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series including wins at Sonoma, Kentucky, Daytona, and New Hampshire. The last time Ford has won four consecutive races was in 2001 with the help of Dale Jarrett for Robert Yates Racing and Elliott Sadler for Wood Brothers Racing.

“A lot of teams in this garage work hard, but the thing is, it’s not only about working hard but it’s about working smart and being smart,” said Paul Wolfe, crew chief for Keselowski. “We did that today and we’ll try to continue to do that leading up to the Chase.”

“I want to thank Brad and Paul for an outstanding weekend,” said Roger Penske, owner of the number 2 Redd’s Ford Fusion. “We made the move when Dodge decided to exit the sport and came with Ford, and they’ve been nothing but supportive from an engineering standpoint, and the whole management team is just really behind this program and that makes a big difference. They want us to win, and they want to give us what we need to win, and I’d have to say that you couldn’t ask for a better weekend.”

Keselowski became the 13th different winner in the last 13 Sprint Cup races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He is now tied with Jimmie Johnson with three wins this season and is third in the overall championship standings.
