Logano Wins Wild Race at Richmond

Toyota Owners 400Joey Logano posted his second win of the season Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway in an exciting finish that all but assures him and Penske Racing a spot in the 2014 Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship.

Making his way around three dueling former champions, Logano surged from the fifth spot to lead the final laps of the Toyota Owners 400. His Roush Yates powered No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford ran near the front of the field all evening in a race that had everything you could expect in a Saturday night short track showdown, including crazy crashes and flaming tires. Logano admitted that the win surprised him since he only has one top-10 finish in the last six races as the 0.75 mile track.

“This isn’t a very good race track for me in the past, but we had a really good Shell Pennzoil Ford today and we were able to put it in Victory Lane,” said Logano. “This is so cool to win two races already this season and I can’t wait to get on the race track next week. These cars right now are so good and Penske is doing such a great job. I am just the lucky guy that gets to drive these things.”

Logano joins Kevin Harvick as the only two-time winners so far in 2014. Roush Yates Engines and Ford Racing are now tied with Chevrolet for the most NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins this season with four.

“Having a couple of wins this early in the season and in two completely different race tracks make you very confident for the rest of the season,” continued Logano. “At this point we really have nothing to lose, it’s all about going for wins and having fun out there and making sure we’re ready for when the Chase starts.”

Fellow Roush Yates Engines driver Grant Enfinger made history Sunday afternoon in the ARCA Racing Series. Enfinger and Team BCR won their third consecutive race of the season, becoming just the second driver in the series’ 62 season history to do so.

Enfinger, driving the No. 90 Motor Ford powered by Roush Yates Engines, jumped to an early lead during the first 104 laps. After a series of cautions and restarts he held off Spencer Gallagher to bring home his fifth career ARCA win. Enfinger has now won at Daytona International Speedway, Mobile International Speedway, and Salem Speedway in 2014.

“I can’t thank Howard and Paula Bixman enough for giving me such great cars and allowing me to do this,” said Enfinger in Victory Lane. “We have such great equipment from the incredible cars to the Roush Yates engines.”

The ARCA Racing Series will head to Talladega next week and Enfinger will have a chance to win the first four races of the season – something never done before in ARCA history.

“That’s going to be tough,” said Enfinger. “You just never know what is going to happen at Talladega but we have a great plate program with Roush Yates and I know we’ll be fast.”
